In Dr. Sharona's practice, she has opened many doors for parents and children which had been blocked. Clients benefit from to her ability to engage in creative problem-solving, and begin to develop this skill for themselves. Dr. Sharona's ability to think "outside the box" opens new horizons with additional options to explore rather than being limited by a single proposition on the table with pressure being felt to come to an agreement. Through her use of language and choice of words she skillfully introduces new concepts to clients who were closed off to new ideas in the past; however, presented in an engaging manner she is able to elicit cooperation between divorcing parents who were unable to speak to each other before. They are often very surprised by the changes that occur and the doors that have been opened to developing a co-parenting relationship. Dr. Sharona believes there is more to the delivery of information than simply its presentation, the recipients need to be engaged in a meaningful way in order to be open to considering additional perspectives. When people are experiencing considerable stress, they are likely to narrow the options that they will entertain and may unintentionally get locked into battles of "Yea" or "Nay" over one or two options. Dr. Sharona can assist in reformulating the options, adding new ideas and highlighting areas of agreement  and facilitate the construction of a new option that was co-created by the children's parents.
